JAMMU, Dec 27: J&K OBC Jagriti Manch demanded implementation of Mandal Commission report vis-à-vis formation of J&K State Advisory Board for the development of other backward classes.
Addressing a press conference, Madan Lal Chalotra, president of the Manch said that the census was conducted in the year 1931 and in the year 1980 the population of other backward classes was declared as 52 per cent by the VP Mandal Commission.
He added that the Mandal Commission report has been implemented throughout the country, but it has not been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.
He further stated that according to the judgment of Supreme Court of India announced on November 16, 1992, that the State Government should implement the report without any further delay, as OBC people are suffering badly for the implementation of report.
“The OBC people are constantly supporting the election system of the country particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, but the State Government never paid heed towards our issues including political reservation, reservation in employment, representation in State recruitment boards, commissions and corporations”, he added.
Brij Mehra, general secretary and Ramesh Kumar Tak, senior vice president urged the Government to give the due share allotted in favour of OBC as the previous Government ignored the demands of the backward community.
