UDHAMPUR, Apr 18: An elderly man was brutally murdered by a person of his own village Sarwali in Majalta Tehsil of Udhampur District.
The deceased was identified as 72 years old Harbant Singh, son of Sandhur Singh of village Sarwali. He was attacked with a sharp edged weapon (Drati) by the accused, namely Prem Singh, son of Bhagat Ram of the same village.
The incident took place last night around 10:30 pm and the victim was shifted to PHC Majalta in a critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries in the morning.
Acting swiftly, Police registered the under section 302 at Police Station Majalta and arrested Prem Singh.
Cause of murder could not be ascertained immediately.
