JAMMU, Aug 9: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today reviewed the pace of progress on mega projects under execution in Jammu at a high level meeting, he chaired here.
Minister for Urban Development, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Housing, Raman Bhalla, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Sadhotra, Minister for PHE, Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani, Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo, Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, Principal Secretary Planning and Development, B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance, B. B. Vyas were present in the meeting among various Administrative Secretaries, Heads of the Departments and other senior officers.
The Chief Minister received brief on the progress of upgradation of Jammu Airport, development of Artificial Lake, Cable Car Project, development of Sidhra Golf Course, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, Suchetgarh Border Tourism Project, 200-bedded Maternity Hospital, 4-laning of Satwari-Kunjwani highway, Legislative Complex, Jammu Sewerage Project, Multi-level Parking at Bus Stand, Industrial Estate at Ghati Kathua, Vikram Chowk Flyover, mega water supply project for greater Jammu, Raghunath Bazar beautification project, comprehensive sewerage project and other schemes under implementation at present.
The meeting was informed that mega water supply project Jammu is being posed to Japan Bank of International Commerce for funding. The Chief Minister directed for speeding up the work in this regard. The Mega Water Supply Project, Jammu estimated to cost of Rs. 500 crores envisaged lifting of water from Chenab river to meet the water requirement of the projected population of Greater Jammu upto 2020 in its first phase. He also directed for early completion of Rs. 6.50 Raghunath Bazar beautification project.
It was stated that Rs. 24-crore Convention Centre Jammu is likely to be completed by September-October this year. The 13-holes of Sidhra Golf Course have already been completed while the work is going on Rs. 95.90-crore Vikram Chowk Flyover. The Border Tourism project for Suchetgarh involving Rs. Rs. 6.39 crore is almost complete besides Jammu sewerage project costing Rs. 34.98 crore. The meeting was told that Rs. 51 crores have been spent on Tawi Artificial Lake project so far and Rs. 21 crores Satwari-Kunjwani road project is almost complete.
The concerned officers presented details of progress and other aspects of these projects. They gave full account of financial and physical targets of these mega projects launched by the Government to pave the way for comprehensive development, upgradation of basic amenities and addressing various traffic and transport issues.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister inaugurated e-office project in Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Jammu. The e-project is a paradigm shift in office functioning from traditional system of maintenance of physical files and receipts towards the digital receipts and disposal of files.
Under the system all the files of Deputy Commissioner’s office will now be disposed off online on NIC network in real time basis saving use of paper as also increasing accountability, efficiency and transparency in the service delivery.
E-office has number of features integrated on single platform which include movement of electronic files, receipts of files, leave management of officials, electronic maintenance of Service Books, personal information of management system of functionaries and e-management of tours and other features.
The Deputy Commissioner Office Jammu is the first in the State and six in the country to implement this project which can be replicated in other offices of the State. The project has involved Rs. 58 lakhs out of which Rs. 20 lakhs have been provided by Ajatshatru, MLC out of his CDF and Rs. 38 lakhs have been provided by Planning and Development Department.
The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts and expressed the hope that the project will prove successful and beneficial general people. He said this project can prove a pilot project for extension in other districts.
