One held, 7 bovines rescued

JAMMU, June 11: Police here today rescued seven bovines from Manda and Nagrota areas and arrested a smuggler in this regard.
Cops at Manda, while performing vehicle checking duty late last night, intercepted a load carrier vehicle bearing registration number JK19-A-3092 while it was on way from Jammu city to Kashmir side.
After noticing cops on Naka duty, driver of the vehicle tried to escape from the spot but was caught by alert cops and he disclosed his name as Abdul Latif, son of Abdul Gani, resident of Dharap (Marllian), R.S Pura.
During checking of the vehicle four bovine animals were found loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
The operation was led by SHO Pacca Danga Inspector Rakesh Singh Jamwal under the supervision of senior Police officers and under the guidance of SSP Jammu.
Police has registered a case in this regard in FIR with number 62/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PC Act at Police Station Pacca Danga and investigation of the case has been entrusted to PSI Amit Singh.
Meanwhile, Cops from Police Station Nagrota today rescued three bovines and seized a vehicle used for their smuggling under operation Kamdhenu.
Cops from Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector, Rajeshwar Singh under the supervision of senior Police officers and under the guidance of SSP Jammu while checking vehicles intercepted a vehicle of Tata Mobile make bearing registration number JK02CT/5899 and rescued three bovines which were loaded in it in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Driver of the vehicle escaped from the spot.
In this regard a case in FIR No.176/2024 U/S 188/IPC 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigations started.
