One injured as miscreants pelt stones on vehicles

KATHUA, Aug 2: One Yatri was injured when some miscreants hiding in the bushes on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway at Magarkhad falling under the jurisdiction of Hatli More Police Post in Lakhanpur area of the Kathua district pelted stones on passenger buses and other passing vehicles on the National Highway late to night.
According to ASP Police, Yougesh Sharma one lady pilgrim was injured in the stone pelting while the front screen of a vehicle was also broken. The stone pelters attacked two yatri buses, one local bus bearing number JK02AN 4403 and a tralla.
The lady was rushed to District Hospital Kathua for treatment and her identity is yet to be ascertained.
The senior police officers rushed the spot soon after the incident which took place between the 9-30 pm to 10-30 pm. However no arrest has been made so far. Police said it has been the handiwork of some miscreants and anti-social elements who want to disturb the peace in the area.
The Police has cordoned the area and started search operation but no arrest has been made till last reports came in.
All senior police officers including SSP Kathua Mohan Lal visited the area soon after the incident. Meanwhile people in Basohli township staged a demonstration in front of Police Station late tonight against the arrest of some local people of the area in connection with recent violence at Sheetal Nagar (Bhoondh) and demanded their immediate release.
