UDHAMPUR/RAJOURI, Jan 17: One person was killed while nine others injured in two separate road accidents in Udhampur and Rajouri today.
A police spokesman said that a woman was killed and two others injured in a car accident near Kooh Nalla on Udhampur-Ramnagar Road today. The mishap took place when the car No. JK14E/ was on its way to Chanunta from Udhampur. The driver lost control over the car and it fell into a gorge. One Rani Devi (55), wife of Ram Lal, resident of Sayal Salan was killed on the spot while injured Shanker Dass and his wife Shako Devi were admitted to Udhampur hospital.
Meanwhile, seven persons were injured when a passenger bus No. JK02AC/ 9057 fell into a gorge near Kot Behrote in district Rajouri. The mishap took place at around 10.30 am when the vehicle was on its way to Rajouri from Shahpur Bhathian.
The driver lost control at a curve and the vehicle landed into a gorge, causing injuries to seven passengers. They were removed to Rajouri hospital. The injured were identified as Ruksana Kouser (16), 3-year-old Imran, Fozia Kouser-22, Shamim Kouser- (17), Simran Kouser (27), Yasmin (45) and minor, Happy, all residents of Shahpur-Bathian area. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
