JAMMU, Aug 29: Online National level creative writing competition on the theme, “What Independence Means to Me”, organised by National Service Scheme (NSS) Campus unit in collaboration with University of Jammu, Jammu and sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, concluded successfully today.
The competition was open to all participants like NSS volunteers, students, scholars, teachers, alumni, and parents. For this purpose an online form was designed to upload and submit photographs of scripts. The link was active only for one and a half hours after which no entry was accepted.
The competition was divided into various categories of participants including school level, college and university level. During the competition, three participants secured 100 percent marks, while one participant achieved 95 percent and two participants clinched 90 percent. All the participants were awarded with a digital appreciation certificate which was received by them on their e-mail.
Under University/College level competition in English language, Ritu Devi from B.Ed. School of Education, Bhaderwah Campus University of Jammu secured first position, while Harsimrat Kour from Department of Sociology, University of Jammu, bagged 2nd position and the 3rd position was shared by two participants namely Diksha from Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu and Pratyush Sharma,The Law School, University of Jammu besides the certificates of merit were also won by five participants namely Nabonita Rakshit from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, Neha Kumari, Department of Education, University of Jammu, Deeksha Sharma, The Law School, University of Jammu, Anubhuti , Department of English ,University of Jammu and Chahat Rajput, Department of Economics, University of Jammu.
Under University/College level in Urdu language, Dimpla Devi and Vijay Kumar from Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, secured first and second position respectively.
While under the Hindi language category, Ritu Gupta, Associate Professor from Stephens College of Nursing Jammu secured 1st position while Bindiya Sharma and Shivani Sharma from Department of Economics University of Jammu clinched 2nd position and 3rd position respectively.
Under School level in English, Peehu Sharma of KV Bantalab Jammu secured first position, while second position was shared by Stuti Saigal of Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School Jammu and Manikarnnnika Sharma of BSF Primary School Jammu and third position was won by Jigya Setia of sant Nirankari Girls School, Delhi.
The adjudicator of the Urdu scripts was Dr Rashid Manhas, Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, whereas the adjudicator of the competition who evaluated English and Hindi Language scripts was Dr Neeraj Sharma, Filmmaker/ creative writer Director, Mumbai Film Industry.
The online competition was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Prof Neeru Sharma, convener NSS Campus units and Dr Anju Sharma Thappa, NSS Programme Coordinator, Jammu University.
