POONCH, Mar 24: The Social Welfare Department (SWD), Poonch, organized an Open District Hockey Championship for boys and girls under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ to promote a drug-free lifestyle. The event was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal and the supervision of DYSSO Poonch and the District Social Welfare Officer.
The championship aimed to engage youth in healthy activities, moving them away from drug abuse. The girls’ final saw Poonch Orange defeated Poonch Blue by 3-2 in a penalty shootout, while DYSSO XI triumphed over Poonch Red with a 3-2 victory in the boys’ section.
Chief Guest ADC Tahir Mustafa Malik stressed the importance of sports in fostering discipline and teamwork while helping create a positive, drug-free environment for youth. The event concluded with the distribution of trophies and cash prizes to the winning teams. The tournament marked a significant step towards a healthier, drug-free community in Poonch
