JAMMU, May 21: A one-day Open Rapid Chess Tournament in various categories was organized at Nek Hotel, here today.
Senior player Sumit Grover won the Tournament while Akashdeep Singh Bhatia got second position and SP Sharma bagged 3rd place.
Ojaswani Mengi got Best Woman Trophy while Aarav Gupta got Best U-15 Trophy. Ishan Choudhary won U-11 Trophy while 2nd and 3rd positions in U-11 went to Ishwam Kawatra and Alankrita Sharma.
Bindu Pathania was chief arbiter of the Event while Arvindu Sharma was coordinator. The Event was held as per FIDE laws of Chess under Swiss format and 6 rounds. Total 54 players participated in the Event.
Baldev Raj (president AJKCA) and Atul Kumar Gupta (working president) distributed cash prizes worth Rs 10,000 and trophies among the winners.
