JAMMU, Oct 27: The Open Solo Speedball Championship 2024 concluded at Crescent Public School Complex, Jammu, with APS Dhar Road, Udhampur, clinching the overall championship trophy. Organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Speedball Association in collaboration with Crescent Public School, this one day event brought together around 150 players from various districts, representing schools like APS Sunjuwan, IDPS, Shiksha Niketan High School, RM Public School, Jammu Sanskriti School and more.
APS Dhar Road, Udhampur, took the top spot, with APS Sunjuwan as the runner-up. Matches were officiated by Sandeep Sharma, Sahil Kaith, Kailash, Amer Koushal, Suchit Kumar and Shivang Sharma.
A highlight of the event was a special felicitation ceremony honoring players Rehaan and Ranveer Verma, who will represent India in the upcoming 35th World Speedball Championship in Egypt. The ceremony featured SSP Sandeep Mehta (Special Crime Wing) as the chief guest and Arshad Choudhary (Chairman, CPS) as the guest of honor. Other notable attendees included Vikas Gupta (Jt. Secretary, J&K Olympic Association), Ashu Peter Mattoo (President, All J&K Christian Sabha), Dr. Anita Sharma (Educationalist, J&K) and Aastha Nanda (JKSSB Member).
Sunny Nanda, representing the organizers, thanked the guests for their support and dedication to the players. All gold medallists from the event have qualified for the upcoming State Level Speedball Championship.
