JAMMU, Nov 25: The Open Table Tennis tournament, organized by SKUAST-Jammu, concluded with a prize distribution function, here today.
Prof JP Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu was chief guest on the occasion. Prof. Sharma congratulated all the winners and explained the relevance of sports events. He also shared his experiences along with some great pieces of advice.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the organizers for successfully conducting the tournament and ensured his full support to strengthen the sports facilities in SKUAST-Jammu. The two day championship was organised by DSW, SKUAST-Jammu wherein about 51 players participated in different categories in both men and women section.
In men’s singles category, Ishavdeep was declared winner while in women’s singles, Nasreen Fatima was winner, besides the pair Nasreen Fatima and Shamsia Fatima won women’s doubles, whereas Irfan and Ishavdeep won men’s doubles.
Teaching faculty also participated in the tournament and in the men’s singles category, Dr Sunil Kumar was declared winner whereas in women’s single, Dr Sushmita Daddhich won the tournament. In the men’s doubles category, Dr Sunil Kumar and Dr RB Khushwaha won the tournament.
Prominent persons who participated in the prize distribution ceremony of the championship included Dr SK Gupta, Registrar and Dean, Faculty of Horticulture and Forestry, Dr S E H Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Dr Rajesh Katoch, DSW, Dr AK Sharma, University Librarian, Dr Sushil Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Dr Sudhakar Dwivedi and others.
