GANDERBAL, Dec 16: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K, in collaboration with the 115 Battalion CRPF and Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, inaugurated an Open Volleyball Tournament for boys under the Civic Action Program at Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS), here today. The two-day tournament features eight teams from various higher secondary schools in the district.
The event was officially inaugurated by the Commanding Officer of the 115 Battalion CRPF, DYSSO Ganderbal Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, and Deputy CEO Ganderbal Rumaisa Sangeen. The dignitaries praised the initiative and highlighted the importance of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, and leadership qualities among the youth.
The opening day of the tournament saw four exciting matches, with BHSS Ganderbal dominating Qamaria Higher Secondary School Ganderbal, securing a straight-set win (2-0). BHSS Batwina, BHSS Manigam, and BHSS Kurhama also triumphed in their respective matches, advancing to the semi-finals alongside the host school. The tournament will continue with the semi-finals and finals on Tuesday.
