NEW DELHI : The Opposition in the Lok Sabha today took exception to the government’s attitude of bringing Bills in haste, by-passing the business advisory committee(BAC) and the prescribed procedure. Leader of Congress in the House Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue before the Question Hour saying two-three Bills have been moved in the House for passing in a haste violating the BAC and prescribed procedure. He said, “As per norms and conventions, the proposed business and issues be discussed at the BAC. Why the BAC is being over-ride and the Bills are being brought through a supplementary agenda.
“This is not acceptable. We are intended to abide by the Chair’s decision but the norms and conventions of the House should be upheld. The government should not violate them on the basis of the majority strength.” Samajwadi Leader Mulayam Singh Yadav and Trinamool Congress member Saugata Roy also supported Mr Kharge’s point. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said, “I got your point, this we can discuss at BAC or other, right now the Question Hour proceedings should begin.”
