Oriental Cricket Club wins Shardha Cup T20 Tournament

JAMMU, Sept 27: Defeating Braham Cricket Club by 33 runs in the summit clash, Oriental Cricket Club won the title trophy of the Shardha Cup T20 Cricket Tournament for Kashmiri Pandits, organized by Kongposh Cricket Club at KC Public School ground, here.
Six teams participated in this League cum Knockout Tournament, which was organized with an objective to promote sports among the youth of Kashmiri Pandit Community in exile, besides helping them not to derail from the mainstream by participating in sports and allied activities.
Former chairman and working president, Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ramesh Mahajan was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while former skipper of J&K Ranji Trophy team and chairman of Ranji Trophy Selection Committee, Ashinder Koul and Ramesh Hangloo were the guests of honour. Member BCCI and Working Committee Member JKCA, Ankush Abrol and Rajesh Dhar, Working Committee Member JKCA were the special guests.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Oriental Club scored a fighting total of 138 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Ripu top scored with 31 runs, while Rohit contributed 28 runs. However, the player who stole the show was Deepak (Decker), making 26 runs off just 14 balls with 3 fours and one massive six. Raju and Rahul Mussa also chipped in with 16 and 10 runs respectively. For Braham Cricket Club, Rajat Safaya, Sunny Bhan and Rahul claimed 3 wickets each, while Rohan Koul took one wicket.
In reply, Braham Cricket Club got bundled out for 105 runs to lose the match by 33 runs. Rohan Koul played a brilliant innings of 37 runs, while Rahul contributed 15 runs to the total. Rohan in particular played with fluidity and grace, hitting the ball with sublime touch and utter brilliance, yet failed to take his side to home. For Oriental Cricket Club, Rahul Mussa was pick of the bowlers, who took 3 important wickets, while Deepak and Vicky scalped 2 wickets each. Deepak was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round show, while Rahul Mussa was declared as man of the series for hitting one handsome fifty and taking 5 wickets in the Tournament.
Finally, the chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
The match was officiated by Srikant Bali and Amit Sharma as umpires, while Sunil Bali and Ankit were the scorers.
