Over 500 runners from across India participate in 4th Edition of Patnitop Marathon

UDHAMPUR, May 26: The fourth edition of Patnitop Marathon organised here today witnessed participation of more than 500 enthusiastic runners and fitness lovers who arrived here from different parts of the country.
Skyview by Empyrean, India’s leading sustainable mobility and tourism infrastructure destination, ushered in the 4th edition of India’s most beautiful hill race —the Patnitop Marathon 4.0 with much aplomb. It was organized by K.A. Sports and Events, a company founded by Iron Man 140.6 miles tri-athlete Kapil Arora, with support from the Patnitop Development Authority and Jammu and Kashmir Tourism.
The marathon received over 500 participants from 41 cities and 14 States across the country for the competitive 21.1 km half-marathon and 10 km race under four age categories; 18-35 years, 35-45 years, 45-55 years, and 55+ years.
Brigadier Shantanu Kashyap, Brigadier Aviation Headquarters, Northern Command was the chief guest. Whereas several dignitaries including Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai, Joint Director Tourism Sunaina Sharma Mehta and CEO Patnitop Development Authority Devender Singh Bahu were also present on the occasion.
“I want to congratulate all organizers for successfully organizing Patnitop 4.0. I am sure this will help in promoting Patnitop across India. Additionally, such events also adhere to the objectives of Fit-India movement. I wish all the participants who have come from various locations all the very best”, said Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai.
Race Director and Owner of K.A. Sports and Events, Kapil Arora was thrilled with the way the event was put together. He stated that this race is in its fourth year and that the number of participants has increased annually. We have participants this year from a number of cities, including Hyderabad, Goa, Bhopal, Navi Mumbai, Gurgaon, Agra and Dehradun. He made particular mention of how joyful it was to watch families of all ages—from five to seventy-seven—jogging together during the event.
“We are delighted to have hosted this chapter of the race in association with Kapil Arora. The scenic run offered participants an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Himalayan region while challenging themselves physically. We hope they thoroughly enjoyed setting new personal records against the beautiful backdrop of the Jammu hills”,” said Owais Altaf Syed, Group Director at FIL Industries Private Limited.
The winners in different categories were: In 21 km half marathon (Male) Ritik Sharma secured first position, Suhail Bhat and Sitanshu Sharma got second and 3rd rank respectively (Age group 18-35), Vijay Sharma secured first position, Samvit Sharma came second and Prakash Kumar claimed third position in (Age group 35-45), Himanshu Prakash top the half marathon while Vinod Godbole came second and Rohit Jain got third position (Age group 45-55) and Ajay Gandotra clinched victory while OP Sharma and Er. Satpal Kalsi came second and third respectively (Above-55).
While in winners in 21 km (Female) category Rimple Devi topped the race while Nandita Bayan and Palak Malhi came second and third in (Age group 18-35), Sunita Yadav topped the race while Shilpa Chaku Handoo and Shalini Gupta secured second and third places respectively in (Age group 35-45). Bhavna Salathia clinched victory while Sonali Pathak secured second spot in (Age group 45-55).
The winners in 10 km race in male category were Brij Bhushan (Age group 18-35), Abhishek Sharma (Age group 35-45), Mohammad Yahya Khan (Age group 45-55) and Anil Katoch (Above 55).
In 10 km female category winners were Mandeep Kour (Age group 18-35), Prerna Sharma (Age group 35-45), Manminder Kaur (Age group 45-55) and Rekha Katoch (Above 55). Participants received an official t-shirt, a finisher’s medal, a post-race breakfast, a sports drink, race day photos and a digital certificate.
