*LG Ladakh attends closing ceremony

LEH, Sept 8: The 11th edition of the prestigious Ladakh Marathon concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony at NDS Stadium, Leh. The event witnessed participation from athletes across India, competing in various marathon categories. Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), graced the occasion, distributing medals, certificates, and cash prizes to the winners.
In the full marathon open female category, Disket Dolma emerged victorious with a time of 3:33:41, followed by Jigmet Dolma (3:59:16) and Namgyal Lamo (4:22:11). In the Open Male category, Nawang Tsering claimed the top spot, completing the race in 2:44:06, with Anil Jindal (3:02:28) and Manzoor Hussain (3:06:42) taking second and third place, respectively.
For the veteran female category, Shamala Manmohan clinched first place with a time of 5:33:41, while Monika Rohrlack (6:00:28) and Mary Joshy (6:12:47) secured the next two positions. Yaswant Rawat won the Veteran Male category, clocking in at 4:23:46, followed by Ashok Popli (5:03:51) and Randeep Arora (5:04:53).
In the half marathon open female category, Tashi Ladol triumphed with a time of 1:29:52, closely followed by Stanzin Chondol (1:34:03) and Stanzin Dolkar (1:34:11). Tsetan Namgyal secured first place in the Open Male category with a time of 1:17:35, with Tsewang Nangdan (1:17:59) and Anurag Konkar (1:18:27) finishing second and third.
For the veteran female category in the Half Marathon, Vidya Sundareswara led the field with a time of 2:08:34, followed by Sumita Balooni (2:23:11) and Dr. Antje Kramer (2:53:45). In the Veteran Male category, Sukhjinder Jaspal claimed first place with a time of 2:04:15, followed by Swapan Das (2:05:48) and Deepak Raja (2:06:06).
The 11.2 km Run saw Sonam Stanzin take first place in the Open Male category with a time of 44:05, with Skarma Tharchen (46:33) and Phurbo Dorjay (47:10) rounding out the top three. For the Veteran Female category, Rinchen Wangmo came in first with a time of 1:36:52, followed by Gopa Ganguly (1:38:08) and Pushpa Bhat (1:39:16), while in the Veteran Male category, Maik Becker (1:01:31), Naccarato Michele (1:04:15), and Capt Cheri Jacob (1:22:03) secured the top three spots.
At the award ceremony, Lieutenant Governor Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), presented the prizes to the top finishers. Winners received cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 65,000, and Rs 50,000, along with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.
