SAMBA, July 31: Over 70 illegal structures and extensions on the service lane of National Highway were demolished inVijaypur town by the district administration during an anti encroachment drive today.
According to reports, the drive was carried out by officers of various departments including Revenue, Municipality Committee Vijaypur and officers of NHAI who were accompanied by a big contingent of police also.
The demolition drive was carried peacefully and the SDPO, Vijaypur and SHO Vijaypur remained present during the entire operation.
It may be recalled that the encroachments and extensions made by shopkeepers and other business community members in the town along NH and Service Lane were creating traffic hazards and traffic jams were witnessed daily in the town especially on Vijaypur Ramgarh road. The people had made many representations to the concerned authorities from time to time. Taking the cognizance of the same the district administration today launched the demolition drive in the town to rid it from encroachments and removed over 70 structures. The people have lauded the action of the administration.
