SRINAGAR: Over 8400 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, paid obeisance at the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas on the first day of the annual pilgrimage which will conclude on August 15, the Rakshabandan day.
An official spokesman said on Monday evening that pilgrims on Monday commenced from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam routes to holy cave.
He said a total of 6884 Yatris left from Baltal base camp and 1241 from Pahalgam for the holy cave shrine early this morning. (AGENCIES)
