JAMMU, Aug 11: Expressing serious concern over the attitude of the Government for not addressing so far their demand of relocation to Jammu, the aggrieved package and non package employees’ protest under the banner of All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir has entered into the 91st day.
The protest of the employees was joined by the Panun Kashmir convener, Dr Agnishekhar who asked the Government not to punish the employees by giving no attention to their genuine demand.
Calling the PM package a punishment package, Dr Agnishekhar said that the Government must not punish the fear-stricken employees by giving no attention to their demand of relocation which they had raised after the brutal killing of their colleague at his office on May 12. He also said that the Government must not take advantage of these hapless youth by exploiting their weakness and urge.
“We had no other option in the exodus except to give education to our children. Our children studied in tents and got education. The Governments must understand it. It was their duty to create avenues for the community youth,” Agnishekhar said and maintained that it was unfortunate the way the employment package was shaped and linked with the rehabilitation. “When your parents are here, what kind of rehabilitation is it,” he asked the protesters and said that this package was an exploitation of the situation in which the KP youth was caught.
“I was never against the package but was against the conditions attached with it,” he said and added that he had already conveyed to the authorities about the grave consequences of the package implementation in Kashmir, which have finally come true”.
“There is a policy in place for a long time to frustrate youth of the community by not listening to their grievances,” he said and asked the Government to fulfill the relocation demand of the aggrieved package employees by attaching them with the Relief and Rehabilitation Organisation Jammu.
Hundreds of package and non package employees despite incessant rains continued their peaceful protest here at RC office in support of their demand on the 91st day while making an appeal to the Government to fulfill their demand without any further delay. They also appealed to all the DDOs to release their pending and current month salaries which some departments have stopped without knowing the actual situation and position of the employees. They warned the DDOs that they will be directly held responsible for any kind of sufferings caused to their families on part of economic strain as their only source of income is their salaries.
