Srinagar, Feb 9: Ganderbal and Pulwama districts are likely to get Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) chairpersons and vice chairpersons as in both the districts where elections are being held tomorrow, the Alliance has the majority.
In Pulwama district of South Kashmir, the PDP leader Syed Abdul Bari Andrabi is likely to be the chairperson as PAGD has majority in the district with PDP having 7 DDC members, NC 2, BJP 1 and Independents 4.

One of the DDC members and PDP leader Waheedur Rehman Parra is in prison as he was arrested ahead of DDC polls last year. He won the polls while in custody. So the PAGD has 8 votes out of 13.
However, there are apprehensions that Pulwama may go Budgam way where PAGD was having majority and due to cross voting Independent candidate Nazir Ahmad Khan was elected chairman.
Independent DDC candidate Javed Ahmad Bhat may be the chairman if cross voting takes place as it took place in Budgam.
In Ganderbal district, PAGD has 11 DDC members with NC 7 and PDP 4. However, they are now left with 10 members only as one of the PDP members Tasleema Aadil resigned today from the basic membership of the party.
She emerged victorious in the recently held maiden DDC polls from Kangan A constituency on PDP’s ticket. She sent a letter to PDP’s district president Ganderbal today wherein she announced her resignation from the primary membership of the party.
The Kangan A constituency was reserved seat for woman in which six women candidates had filed nomination papers while Tasleema from PDP bagged 1644 votes and was declared winner.
Nuzahat Ishfaq of NC is likely to be elected as chairperson in Ganderbal district if all goes well and cross voting does not take place.
Apprehending the cross voting, the PAGD has asked its members to click the pictures from the cell phones at the time of voting. However, it is to be seen will it prevent the cross voting or not.
