Painting Competition on ‘World Diabetes Day’ held

JAMMU, Nov 12: In connection with the celebration of World Diabetes Day falling on November 14, 2013, Janta Diabetes Care Centre, Talab Tillo and JKFAS, organized 14th Annual On the Spot Painting-cum-Poster Competition at Kamala Palace, here today.
The World Diabetes Day is celebrated to mark the birthday of Dr Feddrick Banting, Noble Prize winner, who discovered Insulin in 1921, which has saved and changed the life of millions of diabetics.
Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, Senior Diabetologist and well known artist is working relentlessly to make people aware about this disease and remove the myths about the management of diabetes.
Over 200 students drawn from 20 prominent schools of Jammu participated in the competition with an objective to create awareness about the disease by putting their thoughts and concepts with the help of paint and brush on the paper.
The Competition was held on the concepts put forward by Dr Sharma, which included Know Your Disease and Live Longer; Fast Food Kills Fast; Optimum Calories, Lesser the Diabetes and Insulin a Friend in Need.
The Paintings were judged by Jaipal Singh, Chander Prakash, Ch Sunder, Vijay Gupta, Sushant Dubey and Mukul Mangotra.
