NEW DELHI : Terrorists camping across the border in Pakistan are planning to hit ‘soft targets’ in India on the occasion of Republic Day, a senior Army Commander said today. Lieutenant General Kosam Himalaya Singh, who is heading 16 corps of the Army, which looks after entire area along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, said the Army have received the intelligence input that militants camping in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were planning to strike the soft targets like schools, hospitals and market during Republic Day functions. Lt Gen Singh, the first Army officer from North-east region to become Lieutenant General and a specialist in Jammu and Kashmir operations, said terrorists were conspiring to attack these targets at the time of visit of US President Barack Obama, who would be the Chief guest in Republic Day parade at Rajpath. Talking to reporters, Lt Gen Singh said around 200 terrorist are waiting in coordination centres setup by ISI of Pakistan and its Army for an opportune time to carry out terror attacks in India.
