NEW DELHI, July 2: Panthers Party chief Prof Bhim Singh has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking directions from the Bar Council of India (BCI) to hold elections for the J&KState Bar Council.
According to the petitioner, the Advocates Act, 1961 has been made applicable to J&K since 1986 and it is mandatory to hold elections for J&K bar council so that lawyers of the State are not discriminated against and are treated at par with other advocates in the country. (AGENCIES)
