UDHAMPUR, July 11: Expressing dismay over the stoppage of Shri Amarnath Yatra and manhandling with Yatris in the Kashmir Valley by some anti social elements, a number of Panthers Party activists, led by JKNPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia, took out a protest rally, here today.
The rally took-off from Slathia Chowk and culminated at MS Chowk National Highway after passing through Mukherjee Bazar, Court road, Gole Market, etc. The protesting people also blocked Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for more than two hours in front of Xen PHE Office resulting into heavy traffic jam in city area.
While addressing the gathering, Mankotia blamed BJP-PDP Government for its complete failure to provide security cover to Amarnath Yatra in the Kashmir valley, resulting into injuries to several pilgrims and damage of vehicles by stone pelters in Valley.
Mankotia said that State Government had released 634 stone pelters three days back in the Valley and this was the root cause of stone pelting on Amarnath Yatris. He alleged that the State Government was encouraging stone pelters and anti-national elements in the Valley. “The BJP partnered Government in J&K not only released the stone pelters unconditionally but also gave safe passage to the militants along with their families via Nepal route who were settled in Pakistan twenty years ago,” he said and added that all these so called surrender militants and unconditionally released stone pelters were main cause of unrest in the Valley.
Others, who addressed the gathering, included Dhani Ram Atri, Sanjeet Sharma, Jagdev Jagga, Sarpanch Sunil Gudda, Sarpanch Rampal Bhagat, Sarpanch Joginder Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Parveen Bhagat, Rajinder Balli, Sardar Manjeet Singh, Sarpanch Rafiq Chandel, Sarpanch Hoshiyar Singh, Sarpanch Rebat Singh, Sarpanch Pawan Gupta and Sarpanch Rakesh Sharma.
