JAMMU, June 6: Promising middle-order batsman and off-break bowler, Paras Sharma helped Jammu Cricket Club defeat Laxmi Cricket Club by 6 wickets to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing “Salute & Tribute to the Players” T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Parade Sports Association, Jammu at Parade Ground, here.
Batting first, Laxmi Cricket Club scored 112 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Akash Ohri was the top scorer with 23 runs off 38 balls, studded with 3 boundaries, while Ritik Gupta and Ravi contributed 20 and 19 runs to the total respectively. For JCC, Paras Sharma and Gagan took 2 wickets each, while Vishwajeet and Rohit claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Jammu Cricket Club chased the target in 19.1 overs with 6 wickets in hand. Gurdeep Singh played sedate but composed innings of 34 runs off 43 balls with 4 boundaries, while Paras Sharma scored valuable 28 runs in 28 balls, studded with 4 delectable boundaries. Jasvinder Singh also chipped in with 18 runs off 29 balls. Rishab, Hitesh, Ravi and Amit of Laxmi Cricket Club took one wicket apiece. Paras Sharma of Jammu Cricket Club was adjudged man of the match for his splendid all-round show.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Vijay Dogra as umpires, while Ajay Sharma was the scorer. Dr Karan Nayyar was the physiotherapist.
Simula XI will lock horns with National Cricket Club in the first semifinal tomorrow.
