JAMMU, Feb 13: Parveen Kumar and Ankit Mehta displayed superb soccer skills to help their teams blank opponents and advance in the ongoing 4th Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament, being organized by Narinder Gupta, Senior Congress Leader and Member J&K State Sports Council, here today.
Earlier, in the first match, JK Bank Academy thrashed Engineers XI by four goals to nil (4-0). Parveen Kumar scored 2 magnificent goals in 19th and 57th minutes respectively, while Aqib Mushtaq and Ravi pelted other two goals in 43rd and 61st minutes respectively.
In another match played today, Sainik Colony Football Club blanked Mussa Club by four goals to nil (4-0) in a one-sided affair. The first goal was scored by Ishan Verma in 15th minute, while Ankit Mehta netted back to back goals in 26th and 33rd minutes and Niteshwar Singh scored the fourth goal in 48th minute.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Kushey Kumar, Rohit Kumar Gupta, Vijay Kumar, Ricky Kumar and Harneel Singh.
Prominent among others who witnessed today’s matches were Vinod Sharma, general secretary Pradesh Congress Committee; Nirmolak Singh, vice president JKFA, Sheikh Mehmood, SM Gill, Mohan Lal, Rajesh Sumbria, Rakesh Khanna, Yousuf Don, Harbans Lal and Charan Dass.
21 teams from within and outside the State are participating in the Tournament.
JK SRTC will take on NGR at 3:00 pm tomorrow.
