JAMMU, Feb 10: A superb knock of unbeaten 62 runs by promising batsman Parveen Singh and a splendid bowling display by left-arm spinner Amit Sharma helped Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar to defeat JKP XI by 6 wickets to lift the title trophy of the KC Hyundai Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by KC Sports Club at KC School ground, here today.
Chasing a modest total of 121 runs set by the formidable side of JKP XI on a track that seemed to assist bowlers, RCC Srinagar rode on a brilliant knock of 62 runs off 47 balls, studded with 9 delectable boundaries by Parveen Singh to reach the required total in 16.5 overs by losing 4 wickets to win the match by 6 wickets. Ahtsham also contributed well made 20 runs with the help of 2 boundaries, while Satish Kumar chipped in 14 off 17 balls, which included one four and one six. For JKP XI, Vishal Singh, Raman Dutta, Gagan and skipper Rajesh Gill claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first JKP XI scored a modest total of 120 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Puneet Kumar top scored with 39 runs off 32 balls with the help of one four and 3 sixes, while Rakesh Sewag, Shashi and Rajesh Gill contributed 23, 20 and 12 runs to the total respectively. Amit Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief for RCC, who scalped 3 important wickets by conceding 30 runs in his 4 overs, while skipper Kuldeep Kumar, Satish Kumar, Sourav Chopra and Dilbagh Singh claimed one wicket each.
The winners were presented with a cash prize of Rs 25, 000 and a trophy, while the runners-up team received a trophy from the organizers.
