Parvesh clinches Mathwar Kesari Dangal Title

JAMMU, Sept 27: Bharat Kesari 2012 and National champion, Parvesh of Haryana Railways clinched the 5th Annual Mathwar Kesari Dangal Title, defeating Wrestler Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla, Punjab in 21 minutes bout.
The mega event was organized by Mathwar Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Baba Yash Paul Sharma, President, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sarpanch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, at Mathwar near Akhnoor.
A total of 34 bouts were played and around 67 wrestlers drawn from within and outside the State participated.
Minister for PHE Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma and Minister for Horticulture, Housing, Culture and Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla were the chief guests. District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Ajit Kumar Sahu presided over the function whereas SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand and Additional Deupty Commissioner, Jammu, Kalyan Singh Parihar were the guests of honour.
Winner of the first Malli bout Wrestler Parvesh was awarded with a handsome cash prize of Rs 41,000 along with traditional Silver Gurj and Patta by chief guests while runner-up Wrestler Gani was awarded with handsome cash prize of Rs 30,000 by SSP Jammu Uttam Chand and Additional DC, Jammu, Kalayan Singh Parihar.
The second bout was won by Benia Min of J&K Police who defeated Sunil of Haryana in 21 minutes. Winner Benia was awarded with cash prize of Rs 31,000 while runner up Wrestler Sunil got Rs 20,000.
Third bout was won by Gurmail of BSF (of Chandigarh) who defeated Yodha of Attari Border, Amritsar. Fourth bout was won by Roshan Lal of J&K Police who defeated Amrit Maan of Amritsar while 5th bout was won by Sandeep of Sonipat who defeated Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal, Jammu.
Members and Technical officials who helped in the smooth conduct of the event included Baba Yash Paul Sharma, Sarpanch Ashok Kumar Sharma, Tilak Raj Sharma, Naresh Kumar, Sohan Singh, Raman Kumar, etc.
