ANANTNAG, June 27: First class player Parvez Rasool’s all-round performance helped Bijbehara Sports Club (BSC) to script a narrow win by 3 wickets over Arawani Cricket Club (ACC) to advance in the ongoing Manzoor Memorial One-Day Invitational Cricket Cup, being organized by Bijbehara Cricket Organisation at Sports Stadium, here.
Batting first, ACC scored a modest total of 175 runs in 48 overs in a 50 overs a side match. Younis was the top scorer with 35 runs, while Shafi contributed 28 runs to the total. For BSC, off-spinner Parvez Rasool was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 5 wickets by conceding 28 runs in his quota of 10 overs, while Aquib Nazir, Asif Rasool and Adnan Nazir claimed one wicket apiece.
BSC, in reply chased the target easily in 34.2 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Parvez Rasool top scored with quick-fire 42 runs off 30 balls, studded with crispy 7 boundaries, while Shahid also scored valuable 41 runs. Aquib Nazir also contributed unbeaten 35 runs to the total. For ACC, Shafi was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 4 wickets in his 10 overs by giving away 47 runs. Parvez Rasool was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant all-round show.
The match was officiated by Mudasir Salroo and Ishfaq as umpires, while Farhat maintained the scorebook.
