Patwaris go on 3-day strike, stage ‘dharnas’

JAMMU, July 16: All the Patwaris from Jammu region went on three day strike from today and launched ‘dharnas’ at various tehsil headquarters in support of their demands.
All these Revenue employees, under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association assembled at various district headquarters also and sat on dharna outside Deputy Commissioner’s office.
In Jammu the Patwaris after brief protest sat on dharna at Wazarat Road office of the Dy Commissioner here. They were carrying placards and banners depicting their demands.
Their main demands included removal of pay anomalies, stoppage of direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, relaxation in Public Service Guarantee Act, enhancement in PSC exams, establishment of departmental inquiry cell, imparting Patwar training to all Settlement Assistants, changing transfer policy, provision of computer staff etc.
A spokesman of the Association claimed that on July 17 and 18 protest demonstrations will be held at all the district headquarters by the Patwaris. Memoranda will also be submitted to the respective Deputy Commissioners.
