JAMMU, May 2: The ongoing indefinite strike by Patwaris and Girdawars across the State entered into 25th day today.
The strike is being observed under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association in support of the demands including removal of pay anomalies with retrospective effect, stoppage of direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildar, relaxation in PSGA, enhancement of PSC examination chances from four to eight, establishment of departmental enquiry cell, transparency in transfer policy etc.
Today, the protesting Patwaris and Girdawars of Jammu Tehsil assembled at Tehsil Headquarter Jammu and held demonstration in support of their demands.
Addressing the protestors, provincial president Raman Raj Sharma said that it is very unfortunate that despite the tireless effort of the Association to get redressed the demands of the Patwaris and Girdawars by means of petitions and prayers, the Government has not taken any step to resolve them, which were already agreed by the State Government to be resolved by or before March 31, 2012.
Mustaq Ahmed Ghana, District president Jammu and Sanjeevan Sharma, tehsil president, Jammu, also addressed the protestors.
