JAMMU, Sept 16: In a thrilling contest at the PCA I S Bindra Cricket Stadium, Mohali, PCA Colts emerged victorious over Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) by 6 wickets in the 29th All India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament.
Despite a strong performance from J&K’s Shivansh Sharma, who scored an impressive 111 runs off 112 balls, and Kanhaiya Wadhawan’s 69 off 99, J&K’s total of 242 runs was insufficient. PCA Colts, led by a magnificent unbeaten century from Captain Abhay Choudhary (138 off 125 balls), chased down the target in 39.3 overs.
Choudhary’s innings featured 20 fours and 3 sixes, and he was supported by valuable contributions from Sahil Sharma (41) and Shabaj Singh (25). The J&K bowlers, despite Lone Nasir’s 2 wickets and efforts from Irfan Ul Haq, Mujtaba Yousuf and Kanhaiya Wadhawan, couldn’t prevent PCA Colts from reaching their target.
With this defeat, J&K’s chances of progressing in the tournament appear slim. The PCA Colts’ bowlers also played a crucial role, with Sukhdeep Bajwa and Kunwar Kukreja taking 3 wickets each, supported by Manish Sheoran and Harjas Singh Tandon, who added to the dismissal count.
