PCC constructs 90 shops, 30 godowns in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Jan 1: Projects Construction Corporation (PCC) has so far constructed 90 shops and 30 godowns for the rehabilitation of people affected by the construction of flyover from Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh.
The information was given by PCC authorities to Director Central, Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) Khalid Muzaffar, during a review meeting held today. The PCC authorities said that the affected shopkeepers would be rehabilitated at Jehangir Chowk Rehabilitation complex. They said the work on approach road to complex has also been taken up adding the complex would be handed over to ERA by middle of this month.
Khalid also reviewed the progress of work on rehabilitation complex being constructed by PCC at Rambagh crossing. He also conducted site inspection of the under construction rehabilitation complexes along with General Manager, Deputy General Manager and Architect of JKPCC during which detailed discussions were held regarding the timelines set for the completion of said complexes in view of the pre-award requirement of the ADB (Asian Development Bank).
Some of the shopkeepers of the central market also met Khalid during the site visit. He issued directions for vacating two shops falling on the approach road to rehabilitation complex at Jehangir Chowk so that hassle free access to shopping complex is ensured.
The State Government has already constituted a high level committee under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asghar Samoom for fast tracking of land acquisition process in the expressway project. The committee has carried some meetings and taken some decisions for acquisition of Government and private properties including transfer of land under Army, BSNL etc.
