SOPORE, July 20: Beating their rivals comfortably in the quarterfinal matches today, the PCC Darnambal and Rising Star Cricket Club sailed into the semifinals of the ongoing 1st Sopore T20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, under Civic Action Programme at Khushal Stadium, here.
In the first match, PCC Darnambal outclassed Ashraf Sports by 59 runs in a low scoring match. Batting first, PCC scored a modest total of 110 runs in the stipulated overs, while in reply, the PCC bowlers wrecked havoc in the Ashraf Sports camp and plotted their collapse by bundling them out for a paltry total of 50 runs. Thus PCC registered a big win by 59 runs. Abdul Hamid of PCC Darnambal was adjudged as man of the match.
In another quarterfinal match, Rising Star thrashed Seer Sports by 9 wickets in an easy contest. Seer Sports scored 109 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process.
In reply, Rising Star chased the target in just 12.5 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Tariq Ahmed scored brilliant 48 runs, which fetched him man of the match award.
Apart from these two teams, Sopore Sports and Syndicate Club Sopore have already qualified for the last four stage.
