JAMMU, Sept 26: A meeting of Scheduled Caste (SC) Department of JKPCC was held here today at PCC office Shaheedi Chowk Jammu presided over by its Chairman Karan Bhagat, to chalk out detailed programme for a year-long celebration of the 75th year of Constitution as `Samvidhan Diwas’.
Chief Spokesperson of JKPCC Ravinder Sharma who was special guest on the occasion, apprised the gathering about the role Congress (INC) of Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in close coordination with Dr. BR Ambedkar for the welfare and upliftment of poor and downtrodden especially SC/ST/OBC and minorities. Congress has always taken care of the rights of the downtrodden for their upliftment in every field and sphere of life.
Others who spoke in the meeting include Gurbachan Kumari Rana (Ex-Minister), Vindu Sharma, Sham Lal Bhagat, (Ex-MLC), Shashi Sharma, Praveen Sarwar Khan, Ricky Dalotra, Pawan Bhagat, CL Manyal, Sunil Thappa, Shamsher Bhagat, Baldev Raj, Diwan Chand, Capt Anchal Ram, Lok Nath Dogra and others.
Speaking on the occasion Karan Bhagat threw light on various steps and several others measures taken by the Congress in last 70 years to fulfill Dr Ambedkar’s dream of creating a social democracy and to bring economic equality. He said the SC Department of the Congress party has decided to organise one year long Samvidhan Diwas Samaroh to highlight the importance of the Constitution and socio-political philosophy of Ambedkar.
He said that this event will also remind the nation how Dr Ambedkar as Chairman of Drafting Committee and the Congress party worked in close partnership in drafting the constitution.
He also highlighted the efforts by present political dispensation to destroy the Constitution without changing its form and how Indian society should respond to the challenge.
Bhagat disclosed that SC Dept. of JKPCC will hold series of rallies in all 90 Assembly Constituencies of JKUT,
He said that SC Dept will appoint Panchayat Incharge in entire J&K which will be called as Bahujan Panchayat Congress to give chance to new leadership from grass root level and will also enroll one Lakh “Sambidhan Rakshak” across Jammu and Kashmir.
