PDD employees protest, resent non-drawl of salaries

JAMMU, Aug 22: The employees of Power Development Department Transmission Line Maintenance Division, Udhampur today lodged strong protest with Chief Engineer System & Operation wing  Gladni Narwal, Jammu with  representatives from all employees associations of  the PDD.
Led by Harvinder Singh, president JKEEGA, Sachin Tickoo  convenor Forum of Engineers, Jaipal Sharma DEA, Ajaz Kazmi PPEU general secretary, Sanjeev Bali, president PPEU, Jasbir Singh, president ITI Union, Tarun Gupta, PDL/TDL, Anil Slathia, Pawan Kumar from the Linemen Union, a large number of employees from all cadres-Technical and Ministerial  assembled  at Narwal office lodged their protest and expressed strong resentment over the indifferent  approach of the Power Development Department in addressing this serious issue of  non- drawl of salary for all categories of employees of TLMD-Udhampur for the  last three months.
They pointed out that due to dispute between the Contractor M/S KEC and Power Development Department, the poor employees are made to suffer. Their salaries couldn’t be disbursed as the High Court  has attached the CD-Account of the Executive Engineer in a case titled M/S KEC Vs PDD.  The court had awarded interim relief to the firm, but the PDD  having failed to fulfill the conditions set by the Court has put the employees to utter starvation.
Employees expressed sheer dismay over the poor response of the department to sort out the matter and take appropriate measures to get the salary head opened by pleading amicably in the court through senior counsel.
The employees appealed to the Government to take appropriate measures sensing the gravity of the situation as nearly 250- regular employees and many need based and daily wagers are also without salary/wages for the last three months.  The staff of the TLMD Udhampur Division has been performing tirelessly without in  Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar,   Batote,Ramban and Banihal.
The agitating employees claimed to launch indefinite sit-in  protest at Chief Engineer’s  office from Aug  27 and shall be forced to take up power shutdown from  September 4, if the Government failed to release salary of the employees.
