PDD official served one year imprisonment for accepting bribe

SRINAGAR, June 2: Convicting an accused PDD official, who was caught accepting bribe, Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir Srinagar has sentenced him for one year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5000.
The accused Mohammad Subhan Shah of Ganderbal, the then Accounts Officer in Electric Commercial Division PDD, Basantbagh Srinagar, was involved in case FIR number 10/2005, under Section 5(1) (d), read with Section 5 (2) PC Act and Section 161 RPC P/S VOK.  He had demanded an accepted a bribe of Rs 1000 for forwarding inspection report of the complainant, who was then Sr Assistant Electric Commercial Division PDD Basantgarh, Srinagar.
Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Yash Paul Bourney announced the sentence for a period of one year for offences punishable under Section 5(2) (d) of PC Act and a fine of Rs 5000 besides six months imprisonment for offences punishable u/S 161 RPC. Both the sentences shall run concurrently.
