PDDC (A) seals berth in final; Sainik Colony makes it to semis

JAMMU, Dec 7: Scripting a convincing win by two goals to nil (2-0) over Churchill Brothers, PDDC (A) qualified for the finals, while a solitary goal scored by Munish helped Sainik Colony to trounce PDDC (B ) to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing Christmas Soccer Championship, being organized by Christian Sports Organization J&K in collaboration with J&K Police Department, J&K Football Association and J&K Sports Council at GGM Science College Football ground, here today.
The main objective of the tournament is to celebrate the festival of Christmas with all masses through the medium of sports and promote sports culture in the State.
Earlier, in the first match, Sainik Colony defeated PDDC (B) by a solitary goal in a tough contest and entered the semifinals. Munish scored the goal in 66th minute.
Meanwhile in the second match, PDDC (A) drubbed Churchill Brothers by two goals to nil (2-0) and qualified for the finals. Though, both the teams were goalless in the first half, yet PDDC (A) players pulled their socks in the second half and managed to score two goals to win by the same margin. Adnan pelted the first goal in 74th minute, while Demmy netted another one in 78th minute.
Clint Mattoo, Moon Stephan, Vijay Kumar, Kamal, Rajesh Sumbaria, Saudhar Mattoo, Harmanjeet Singh, Roheny, Elijah Sotra and Harbans Lal officiated the matches.
Dr Danish, DHO was the chief guest in the first match, who was introduced with both the teams during interaction with the players, while Alok Puri, IGP MD Housing was the chief guest in the semifinal match, who was introduced with the players on the occasion.
Sanjay Mahajan, Managing Director Atman Group of Colleges was the special guest on the occasion.
Other members present on the occasion were Rajesh Gill, president CSO, J&K, Majid Kakroo former Indian Captain, Rakesh (Kuki), David Mattoo, Asif Gill,  Satpaul , Victor Sotra, William Mattoo, Sam Paul, Nitu and Roman Sandhu.
