PDP-BJP Coalition Govt neglecting OBCs: Cong

JAMMU, Nov 13:  Senior Congress leaders today alleged that PDP-BJP Coalition Government was neglecting the members of Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Addressing one-day convention of  Other Backward Classes (OBC) at   Jambolochan  Bhavan  near Karan Nagar  here today, senior PCC leaders Sham Lal Sharma, CLP Leader Nawang Rigzin Jopra  and Raman Bhalla  lashed out at the Coalition Govt in the State for the sheer neglect of the OBCs in the State.
They alleged that  the members of OBCs in the State have remained deprived of their due rights and it was the Congress Party which ensured the constitution of the Advisory Board for the OBCs in the State to high light their problems at the highest level. The  present Govt of  PDP-BJP took about one and half years to re-constitute  the  OBC Board which showed their indifferent approach and lack of concern  for them, they added.
The PCC leaders further  said that OBCs and other oppressed sections were exploited by the BJP during the  General Elections to Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on various slogans but now these sections of the society feel neglected and ignored by both Centre and  State Government. The  Congress party alone  respects the rights of each category and sections of the society and  they should strengthen congress party for  their welfare and upliftment, they maintained.
Jora appreciated the efforts of OBCs to unite  and  assert for their due rights. He assured full support of the Congress party to their genuine demands and said that  the Congress vehemently raised the genuine concern of the  reserved categories during the last Assembly session, however, the Coalition Government is indifferent towards the issues of weaker sections of the society.
Kuldeep Raj Verma,  former vice chairman of OBCs Board, in his address highlighted the various issues pertaining to OBC and demanded equal rights at par with other parts in  the Country. He raised the problems of Backward Classes certificate and said that at present they are being treated as other social categories and deprived from the benefits of OBC.
The convention was organized by  Suresh  Dogra and other OBC leaders which was attended by leaders/representatives of different sections of OBCs including large number of women.
PCC chief  spokesperson  Ravinder Sharma,  general secretaries Shah Mohd Choudhary, Vikram Malhotra, DCC Jammu president Anil Chopra, chairman PCC Legal Dept KK Pangotra, vice chairman Minority Dept PCC S. Gurdarshan Singh also attended.
