JAMMU, Nov 16: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that BJP-PDP Government has remained inaccessible to the public even after completion of its half term.
While interacting with people from Channi Rama and Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar as a part of mass contact programme here today Bhalla said coalition is plagued by distractions that has slowed down the process of development and left the governance in paralytic mode. In fact, the present dispensation has lost the will to govern.
He alleged that the Govt has lost trust and confidence of the people, who are highly dejected due to misgovernance, nepotism, favouritism and lack of development. He particularly referred to the disillusionment of the people in Jammu and said the self-centric BJP has betrayed their mandate.
Bhalla also slammed the Coalition for its insensitivity towards the multitude of problems facing people and showing disregard to their sentiments and sensitivities, saying that “exploitative politics” may create euphoria for some time but ultimately the people want better services and their developmental needs fulfilled.
Former minister cautioned the Govt, asking it not to take public patience for granted. “They can tolerate to some extent but not to any extent,” he said.
Coming down heavily on the PDP-BJP Govt over its lack of will to govern, Bhalla viewed with concern the fast deteriorating scenario in parts of the State, leading to developmental slow-down and drop in tourism activity.
Bhalla expressed dismay over the half-hearted approach adopted by the coalition dispensation in tackling the issues confronting common man and described the symbolism just as eyewash. He said this Govt has nothing to offer except exploiting public sentiment by raking up contentious issues. “These have nothing to do with day to day problems being faced by the people”, he added.
The Congress leader lashed out on BJP for its total surrender on the core issues, which it used to exploit the people of Jammu region all though these years, like Article 370, citizenship to West Pakistan Refugees, philosophy of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and all other issues of Jammu region. He said that it has exposed BJP’s double standards for power.
