PDP leader in soup over Hindu CM remark

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Peer Mansoor is in soup over his Hindu Chief Minister remark as Election Commission of India (ECI) has sought a report from the District Election Officer Anantnag.
The DEO, Tasaduq Jeelani, has prepared the report on the PDP leader’s remark and will submit it to the ECI tomorrow.
In an apparent reference to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mansoor had urged the people not to vote for parties, which would impose a Hindu Chief Minister if elected to power.
The PDP leader made this remark early this month while addressing a rally in south Kashmir. He had said that Kashmir has a Muslim majority and only a person from the same community can rule the State.
However, PDP had distanced from Mansoor remark saying that anyone can become CM who is voted to power by the people.
