JAMMU, Jan 22: The PDP top brass met tonight for two and half hours at the residence of party patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here to discuss formation of the Government with the BJP and sharing seats for Rajya Sabha elections.
Reports said the meeting was attended by Mr Sayeed, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Tariq Hamid Qarra, all Lok Sabha members, Dr Haseeb Drabu and Syed Altaf Bukhari, both newly elected MLAs and party spokesman Naeem Akhter.
The dinner meeting that started at 8 pm continued till 10.30 pm.
Reports said the PDP leaders discussed formation of next Government with the BJP and power sharing formula. Other options to form the Government were also discussed.
The PDP is in talks with the BJP to form the Government to end Governor rule in the State, which had to be imposed due to delay in Government and resignation of caretaker Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Reports said the PDP also discussed strategy for the Rajya Sabha elections. The PDP-BJP combine with the help of some Independents was in a position to win all four Rajya Sabha seats from the State.
The PDP discussed the strategy for the Rajya Sabha elections as last date for filing of nomination papers is January 28. Rajya Sabha elections, if contested, will be held on February 7.
There were reports that in the event of an alliance, the PDP and BJP could share two seats each.
