PDP’s rule was most corrupt in State’s history: NC

SRINAGAR, June 28: National Conference has said that the three year chaotic rule of Mufti Mohd Sayeed as the Chief Minister of the State was the most corrupt tenure of any Government in the State’s history.
National Conference has said that PDP did precious little besides allowing its Ministers to loot and plunder public wealth and resources – a fact that was reflected in how the State Accountability Commission (SAC) had indicted three sitting Ministers of the Mufti Mohd Sayeed Government on charges of serious corruption.
Stating that PDP was the most corrupt political party in the entire country, National Conference leader and Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal lashed out at PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for insulting the people of J&K by presuming that their memory was so short-lived. “People of J&K remember quite clearly how Mufti Sayeed plunged J&K neck-deep into corruption and chaos as the Chief Minister of the State.
The State Accountability Commission (SAC) – the number one corruption watchdog in the State found indicting evidence of serious corruption running into crores against three of Mufti’s Ministers. Then there was the Kundal Committee Report which indicted Tariq Karra and Qazi Afzal in the infamous Forest Scam”, Dr Kamaal said.
Dr Kamaal said that PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed treated mass corruption as his legitimized right and allowed his Ministers to engage in record-breaking loot and plunder from 2002 to 2005. “After making the SAC defunct during their tenure, PDP then created hurdles in reviving SAC and RTI Commission as they knew that once the SAC is revived, some of their senior-most leaders would land in trouble for their scams. This is the reason why PDP frequently boycotted meetings held for re-constituting SAC and constituting the Right to Information Commission”, the NC leader said.
