SRINAGAR: Alleging that Peoples Democratic Party continued subservience to Bharatiya Janata Party was alarming, former chief minister Omar Abdullah today said multi-fold increase in number of pellet guns showed that present Government has chosen not to learn any lessons from the last year’s summer unrest in the Valley.
Deliberate silence on BJP leader Sakshi Maharaj’s comments are shameful, the working president of the main Opposition National Conference said while addressing party workers in Beerwah, a constituency he represents in the Assembly.
He said PDP’s continued subservience to the BJP was alarming and could have long-lasting adverse implications on the State and its stability.
He said the multi-fold increase in number of pellet guns from around 600 to now around 6,000 showed that the present Government had chosen to not learn any lessons from the recent unrest and the devastating effect of pellet guns when hundreds of young kids lost partial or complete eyesight.
