Pedestrian held with 7 kg cannabis

KISHTWAR, Jan 19: A pedestrian was arrested along with 7 kilograms cannabis from Giri Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Kishtwar police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Kishtwar police station laid a naka near Giri Nagar and intercepted a pedestrian for checking as he was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered 7 kilograms cannabis from the possession of the pedestrian and nabbed him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Puran Chand, son of Kanth Ram Bhagat, a resident of Bal Minder Palmar.
He was brining the consignment of drugs from his native village to Kishtwar on foot to hand over the same to his associate, but got trapped in police net.
A case under FIR Number 13/16 under Section 8/20 narcotic Drugs and Psyhcotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at police station Kishtwar and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Kishtwar police station Inspector Mohammad Afzal Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir.
