Pedestrian held with illicit liquor pouches

JAMMU, Dec 30: Police arrested a pedestrian along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches from Fawara Chowk, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Akhnoor police station intercepted a pedestrian carrying bag near Fawara Chowk this evening.
During checking, police recovered 39 pouches of illicit liquor pouches and arrested the pedestrian on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Jeet Raj, son of Kartar Chand, a resident of Kohdey Wala Camp Sohal.
He was carrying the illicit liquor pouches to his native village for selling among the people to gain illegitimate benefits.
A case under 48-A Excise Act has been registered against the accused at police station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor police station Inspector Pushpinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SP Rural Rajeev Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
