Peehushi lifts Women Singles title; Preeti-Nitesh wins Women Doubles

JAMMU, Sept 6: Jammu District Badminton Championship, being organized by Jammu City and District Badminton Association entered 3rd day at police badminton hall, police line, here today.
The Women Singles was won by Peehushi, who thrashed her opponent, Keerat, in the final by 21-14 and 21-16 sets whereas the Women Doubles title was lifted by Preeti and Niteshi, who beat Peehushi and Naman by 21-23, 21-18 and 21-22 sets in the final.
In the finals of Under-17 Girls Doubles, Peehushi and Naman beat Rashmi and Sharuti by 21-16 and 21-11. In Under-17 Boys Doubles, Savinay and Mohit defeated Aryan and Sarandeep by 21-13 and 21-15 whereas in Men Singles, Divum Gupta crushed Puran Chand by 21-07 and 21-08.
In two semi-finals of Under-17 Boys Singles, Aesh beat Aryan by 21-12 and 21-16 while Mohit thrashed Sarandeep by 21-17 and 21-15. In semi-finals of Under-17 Girls Singles, Niteshi beat Naman by 21-15 and 21-11 whereas Peehushi trounced Rashmi by 21-13 and 21-08.
Today’s matches were officiated by Sunil Gurkha, Satpal Sharma, Balbir Jamwal, Vivek Mehta, Sukhdev Singh and Pawanjeet Singh.
The championship will conclude on tomorrow (Sept 7) at Police Badminton Hall at 5 pm. Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, will grace the occasion as chief guest and distribute the prizes among the winners and runner ups.
