Peerzada takes stock of JKTDC’s working

JAMMU, Feb 12: Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) has realized a substantial revenue amounting Rs. 16.35 crore up to December 2012 recording 6 per cent increase to corresponding period.
This was informed at a review meeting convened to review the functioning of JKTDC under the chairmanship of Minister for Haj, Auqaf and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed.
Giving brief account of activities of the Corporation, Managing Director, JKTDC informed that the Corporation is constructing four new hotels for better management and comfortable stay of tourists across the State. These are Pahalgam Club which is coming-up at an estimated cost of Rs. 16.20 crore, Yousmarg hotel at Rs.3.98 crore, Sonamarg at Rs. 3.86 crore and Gulmarg at Rs. 3.86 crore respectively. The tourism infrastructure is also being raised at Cheshmashahi with an estimated cost of Rs. 3.54 crore for the facilities of the tourists, the meeting was informed.
Besides, the historic Budshah hotel has been reconstructed after a gap of 26 years with Rs. 4.20 crore and face-lift was also given to all the tourist Bungalows and hotels of JKTDC across the State including Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), Jammu and Tourist Reception Centre, Srinagar.
It was also apprised in the meeting that besides construction of new reception office at Cheshmashahi, some huts at Cheshmashahi and 68 rooms of hotel Heemal, Lalarukh, T.B. Katra and TRC, Jammu were upgraded for providing added facilities to the tourists.
