KATHUA, Aug 28: Provin-cial Electric Employees Union (PEEU) today demanded that a concrete policy should be framed for regularization of daily wagers, casual and need based workers working in Power Development Department (PDD) and Power Development Corporation (PDC).
The demand was made by the president of the Union, P C Sharma while talking to reporters here, today.
He also demanded release of pending wages of all need base and casual workers forth with failing which the Union will be forced to come to streets.
The other demands highlighted by Sharma included enhancement of wages from Rs 150 to Rs 500 per day on the basis of need base minimum wages and also redressal of other demands of the power employees.
Sharma made an appeal to Chief Minister, Dy Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of the State urging them to redress these demands at an earliest as the future of all these workers is at stake and they as well as their families are at the verge of starvation as they have not been paid wages for a long time.
He said the education of their wards was also affected due to financial hardships faced by them.
Sharma said that the Chief Minister herself had announced time and again about the regularization of 60,000 daily wagers and she withheld the implementation of Seventh Pay Commission up to 2018 for general employees in lieu of regularization of daily wagers but till date nothing was done.
He said that the daily wagers have now lost the patience and they have exerted pressure on Union to launch an agitation.
He again made an appeal to the Government to look into the demands of PDD and PDC daily wagers and announce their regularization without wasting more time.
