KATHUA, Feb 2: The Provincial Electric Employees Union (PEEU) held a demonstration in front of Sub Division M&RE Sub Division Hiranagar today in protest against the attachment of a meter reader for increasing load in the area.
The demonstration was held under the leadership of Hardarshan Singh a senior leader of the Union. The protesters while criticizing the attachment of the official in Division Office by the Executive Engineer, Electrical Division Kathua termed it unjustified and illogical.
They said the meter reader alone is not responsible for increasing load in the area and the officers should also be punished for the same. The concerned AE and AEE are also responsible and why the low paid employee was made a scapegoat, they asked?
The protesters warned in case the attachment order of the official was not revoked immediately they will intensify the agitation.
The Union said that field employees will provide fault free service provided officers cooperate. They said the increasing load is the result of a nexus from bureaucracy to bottom level.
The other Union leaders who addressed the protest included K P Singh and Joginder Kumar.
